PlayMetrics Background Check Contributions

From AYSO Wiki

Sterling allowed volunteers to pay for their own background check at checkout even when the Region was set to pay. That voluntary payment option is not available at JDP checkout.

Regions that want to continue offering this choice can collect an optional $25 contribution through PlayMetrics.

How to offer the contribution

Use a custom question with an associated fee. Training 1 demonstrated an Optional Subscription Fee for a background check donation and how a fee can be linked to a question response.

Suggested question:

“Would you like to contribute $25 to help cover the cost of your background check?”

Configure the fee to apply only when the volunteer chooses to contribute. Declining should result in no contribution charge.

Avoid duplicate charges

Collect the contribution only once. Before adding the fee, check that your registration setup does not already collect the same background check contribution.

The contribution helps offset the Region’s cost and should not create a second charge to the volunteer for the same background check.
