Benefits of Sponsorship: Sponsors benefit from a tax deduction/write-off for the value of sponsorships to non-profit events/organizations.
Brand Awareness: Creating awareness for their products and services is one reason why local companies participate in sponsorship. Placement on a Region’s social media, field signs, website, uniforms and emails to members are all valuable for creating sponsor/brand awareness.
Regional Sponsors: Regional businesses showing community support to youth sports, your members, and their kids in AYSO, is a powerful way to signal they are a “good neighbor” company.
Getting Started with Region Sponsorships
Identifying Potential Sponsors
- Target Relevant Businesses: Local restaurants, Pediatricians/dentists, Auto shops. Real estate agents, Insurance agents, Credit unions/banks
- Are there types of Sponsors that are not allowed? Yes. Types of businesses and organizations that should be avoided: Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco (includes cannabis), Gun Shops, anything associated with firearms, Political Organizations, Adult Entertainment, Gambling, Bars/Winery
Set Goals: How much sponsorship revenue do you need to raise? How will the money support your Region’s program?
Collecting Funds: Review the Donation Platform options available for AYSO Regions
Guidelines & Regulations for Sponsorships
- Exclusivity: Review any requests for “exclusive” designations with AYSO Marketing. Since we are all part of one brand, these decisions can have unintended consequences..
- Off Limits: Any sponsorship in categories that could be in contrast with AYSO’s Vision, Mission or Philosophies such as political groups/positions, firearms, anything that could be of harm to children or not child-friendly, alcohol, drugs, etc.
- Revenue Limit: Regions have the ability to secure a sponsor program up to $1,500. Above that amount, please consult with AYSO Marketing and consult with your Area Director.
- Your Region Only: Any sponsorship that is developed for your Region is for your Region only - cannot commit to any other Region, nor AYSO as an organization.
