Community Relations
From AYSO Wiki
The RC works closely with municipalities, municipality sports coalitions, school districts, parks and recreation departments and other local and state entities. Building relationships of trust with those you work with will be a valued asset to promote and build your program.
- AYSO liability coverage for rented fields or other facilities which may require a COI (Certificate of Insurance) naming the entity or facility additionally insured. If these COI certificates are requested you will need the entity's information such as full legal name, address, contact person and contact email.
- Different municipalities (towns, cities, villages etc.) offer different levels of participation for sports programs such as soccer. They create a "sports coalition" affiliation. This affiliation may offer its members (Regions/Areas/Section) discounted field/facility rental fees. Most times to be part of a sports coalition the player registrations have to meet a minimum level of residency for the particular municipality. Be prepared to submit rosters as proof of residency for your players. These sports coalitions normally have periodic meetings for all sports to attend. Be prepared to attend these meetings as the representative of the Region or assign a regional board member to attend.
- School multipurpose fields are a great place for practices and games. The relationship created between a Region and a school district will be an asset to the AYSO program and must be maintained. If this opportunity for fields is offered to the Region contact the school district for the facility rental procedure and contact support.
- Local parks and retention basins are normally overseen by the municipality where they are located. There may or may not be restrictions, rental priority or other parameters for use. Call the Parks and Recreation department within the municipality for further information and requirements.
