AYSO Core Program Overview

This is AYSO’s oldest and best-known program where a majority of kids fall in love with soccer and make lifetime memories.

What is AYSO Core?

AYSO Core is AYSO’s grassroots program and serves as the foundation for the fun, excitement, and learning that takes place on the field. The program is designed to be age-appropriate and developmentally challenging, while staying true to the AYSO Mission, Vision, and Six Philosophies.

The AYSO Six Philosophies

Everyone Plays® Balanced Teams Open Registration
Positive Coaching Good Sportsmanship Player Development

What does “Everyone Plays®” mean?

In AYSO, Everyone Plays means that every child plays at least half of every game. No child should spend their soccer experience sitting on the bench.

What are “Balanced Teams”?

In AYSO, teams are balanced so the focus stays on the experience rather than wins and losses. This helps teach good sportsmanship and encourages players to become the best possible teammates and opponents. By emphasizing player development over winning, AYSO remains child-first and child-focused.

Can older kids still enjoy AYSO?

Yes. AYSO offers a 16U–19U program that gives teenage players another opportunity for more advanced play while still operating under AYSO philosophies and policies.
