What is AYSO Adult Soccer? AYSO Adult Soccer provides opportunities for adults to continue playing the game in a safe, fun, and community-based environment. AYSO Adult Soccer is a separate non-profit organization that encourages adults to get out, get fit, and enjoy soccer with their AYSO community. The program is open to adults of all experience and skill levels. Adult Soccer extends the AYSO experience beyond youth participation, allowing parents, volunteers, alumni, and community members to stay connected through soccer.

Adult Soccer programs are locally operated and designed to be flexible, allowing Regions and Areas to offer formats that best fit their community, facilities, and participation levels.

Common formats may include:

• Small-sided play, such as 3v3, 4v4, or 7v7
• Coed leagues
• Recreational divisions
• Semi-competitive divisions
• Pick-up or seasonal play
• Futsal or indoor play

Program structure may vary based on field availability, participant interest, referee availability, and local leadership support.

Program Expectations

Adult Soccer programs should reflect AYSO values while recognizing the different needs of adult participants.

Programs should ensure:

• Proper player registration
• Safe and organized playing environments

• Respectful and sportsmanlike behavior
• Consistent roster and schedule management
• Financial accountability and oversight

Starting an Adult Program

Adult Soccer programs are locally developed and should be built to meet the needs of the community.

Before launching a program, Regions and Areas should evaluate:

• Player interest and demand
• Field availability
• Referee availability
• Program format
• Administrative and volunteer support
• Equipment needs
• Local promotion and communication strategy

To start an Adult Soccer program:

1. Identify an Adult Soccer Program Leader
2. Determine league format and structure
3. Secure fields, courts, gyms, or other appropriate playing space
4. Confirm time blocks for games or drop-in play
5. Identify equipment needs, such as balls, goals, cones, pinnies, or shirts
6. Establish registration and roster processes
7. Set local program fees based on fixed costs
8. Promote the program to parents, volunteers, alumni, local businesses, gyms, schools, and the broader community
9. Communicate program expectations clearly to participants
10. Ensure compliance with AYSO policies and safety requirements

Adult Soccer programs should be flexible, sustainable, and aligned with AYSO values.

Membership Fees and Registration

AYSO Adult Soccer has a National Office membership fee of $30 per player, per year.

The membership year runs from September 1 through August 31.

The membership fee cannot be prorated if a player joins midway through the membership year.

Adult Soccer players must be registered through an AYSO Adult Soccer website to keep AYSO Adult Soccer funds separate from AYSO youth program funds for tax reporting.

The National Office membership fee supports registration costs, U.S. Soccer and United States Adult Soccer Association fees, and Player Accident Insurance.

Regions may set additional local program fees based on program costs.

Region Responsibilities

Regions and Areas offering Adult Soccer are responsible for ensuring the program is organized, safe, and aligned with AYSO expectations.

This includes:

• Program setup and administration
• Player registration and roster oversight
• Scheduling and field coordination
• Equipment planning
• Financial accountability
• Risk management and safety compliance
• Clear communication with participants
• Supporting a positive and welcoming environment
