Open Registration

From AYSO Wiki

AYSO’s founders believed that any child with an interest in playing soccer should be accepted in AYSO without regard to athletic ability or previous playing experience. They implemented a no tryout and no “cut” practice – a core belief that continues to this day in the “Open Registration” philosophy for the AYSO Core program and one that must be upheld by every Region.

“Interest and Enthusiasm are the only requirements!”

AYSO provides several ways in which a Region can complete player and volunteer registration:

•    The easiest, most accurate and fastest way is to use AYSO’s online system of record, which utilizes eSignature. Each Region is provided with AYSO website access using a standard url: aysoXXXX.org.

•    Every player and volunteer application must be eSigned in order to provide for the secure long-term storage, search and retrieval of applications and signed waivers, acknowledgements and agreements.

•    Only Regions using a previously approved third party registration service are allowed to continue their use of a different registration system until such time as it can be replaced by the official system of record. The AYSO system of record is essential to AYSO’s financial reporting responsibilities, participant insurance coverage and many other key functions.

It is important to remember that Registration is a 2 Phase process:

Phase 1 – Online Application Process.

•    Completion, eSignature and submission of a Player Registration Application and payment of fees by the player’s parents/guardians.

Phase 2 – Acceptance/Registration

•    Acceptance of the Player Registration Application and fees by the Regional Registrar with placement of the player on a team.

•    For Volunteers, acceptance of the Volunteer Application often accompanies a vote of approval by the Regional Board and placement of the volunteer into an assigned position.

Placement on a team or in an assigned position constitutes the acceptance of the registration application for the player or the volunteer.
