Women's Referee Network (WRN)
The Women's Referee Network (WRN) is an AYSO initiative supporting women referees at every level.
We're here to help women advance, connect, and thrive; on and off the field.
Why the Women's Referee Network?
Women make up 31% of AYSO Regional Referees but only 13% of Intermediate Referees, only 6% of Advanced Referees and 15% of National Referees.
WRN is working to improve pathways for women to advance and become leaders.
Our Vision
We envision an AYSO in which women (a) constitute half the referees, referee instructors, and assessors at every level and (b) feel supported, valued, respected and confident as referees and leaders regardless of their experience or expertise.
Our Mission
Three pillars will guide our work:
- Accessible Advancement: Remove structural barriers that impair or prevent women from advancing and upgrading.
- Representative Mentorship: Pair developing referees with experienced mentors who understand the specific on-field dynamics and "game-life" balance unique to women.
- Peer Advocacy: Create a dedicated space for women to share experiences, solve challenges, and build the confidence to take on higher level matches and leadership roles.
