Assignr
Assignr is an online tool for building game schedules, assigning referees, and keeping everyone in sync when games change. Referees can pick up games themselves (self-assign), block out dates they are unavailable, and get automatic reminders. Referee assignors can see coverage gaps at a glance instead of managing it in spreadsheets.
How Assignr Works with PlayMetrics
From PlayMetrics, your game schedule flows into Assignr automatically. You never have to re-enter games or chase down schedule changes by hand.
- Schedules stay in sync: Games, and any changes to them, are pushed from PlayMetrics to Assignr as they are published. Referees always see the right time, field and game.
- Crew sizes follow your divisions: You map PlayMetrics divisions to Assignr age groups, so a 10U game can call for a three-person crew while 8U gets a single referee.
- Assignments live in Assignr:Every referee assigned to a game is visible in Assignr. PlayMetrics handles the data connection; Assignr handles all referee scheduling.
Getting Started
- Choose an onboarding method (below)
- Email PlayMetrics at success@playmetrics.com and ask them to enable the Assignr integration for your Region.
- PlayMetrics Customer Success will confirm once the connection is live.
Pricing for AYSO Regions
Assignr has two kinds of fees. Every region pays a platform fee per game; transaction fees apply only if your region or area pays referees through Assignr. Start your trial through the AYSO links on this page so AYSO pricing is applied.
| Fee | What it covers | Who pays it | AYSO price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platform Fee | All functionality except paying referees | Every Region using Assignr | $0.50/game |
| Transaction Fee | Paying referees | Only Regions or Areas that pay referees in Assignr | $1.00/pmt |
How Fees Work
- Platform Fees are calculated on a per game basis, regardless of the number of officials on the field. Example, a Region with 400 games in a season will pay $200 in Platform Fees. Platform Fees are charged monthly to the credit card on file.
- Transaction Fees are charged each time a referee is paid. Example, if you pay 25 referees every two weeks, each pay run is 25 transactions, or $25. Transaction fees are paid as part of each pay run.

- You'll leave with a working site and a clear list of next steps.
Setup Checklist
Most AYSO regions follow these steps. The full onboarding guide covers each one in detail; skip anything that doesn't apply to your region.
- Configure your site. Under Settings, let referees see unassigned games, turn on self-assign with conflict checking, and set your decline window (many AYSO groups use 24 hours).
- Import your referees. Export your roster from your current tool as a CSV and import it under People. First name, last name and email are all you need. Then send new account emails so referees can log in.
- Connect PlayMetrics. Email <success@playmetrics.com> to turn on the integration. Until it's live, you can import games from a spreadsheet.
- Set crew sizes. Add Pattern Rules by age group, for example one referee for 8U and a three-person crew for 10U and up.
- Publish games and let referees know. Publish games with Batch Update, then send a message or mobile push notification. Publishing alone does not notify referees.
- Turn on game reports (optional). A standard soccer report covers the score, who actually worked the game, and cautions and send-offs.
- Set up payments (optional). If your region pays referees, add a payor and bank account. Referees add their own W-9 and bank details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my region need to sign an agreement with Assignr? No. AYSO's national agreement covers every region and area. There is nothing extra to sign.
Do we have to pay referees through Assignr to use it? No. Many regions use Assignr only for scheduling and assigning. Referee payments are an optional feature you can turn on later.
We're not on PlayMetrics yet. Can we still start? Yes. You can import games from a spreadsheet now and switch on the PlayMetrics integration once your region has moved over.
When should we get started? Any time, but most regions will want to set up before spring registration opens. Setting up a trial early gives your ref admin time to learn the tool before the season starts.
We already use Stack Officials, a spreadsheet or another tool. Can we bring our referees over? Yes. Export your roster as a CSV and import it into Assignr. You only need each referee's name and email.
How does Assignr know we're an AYSO region? Start your trial or book your call through the AYSO links on this page. That tags your site as AYSO so the correct pricing is applied.
Can referees pick their own games? Yes. With self-assign turned on, referees request open games themselves, and Assignr blocks any request that would create a scheduling conflict.
