AYSO Wiki:Unblock Indexing
Overview
The Wiki job queue runs automatically on a periodic basis to process tasks (such as search index updates or category changes). However, it processes a limited number of jobs per run (currently 500).
If you notice that search queries are not updating or the system appears "backed up," the queue may be stalled. Administrators can clear this blockage manually.
Instructions
Who can perform this: Wiki Administrators
Prerequisite: You must be logged in.
1. Access the Refresh Tool
Navigate to the custom refresh page: https://wiki.ayso.org/wiki/Special:RefreshWiki
2. Execute Maintenance Jobs
On the page, click the button labeled "Run some jobs".
- Note: In specific cases where categories are not updating, you may also need to click "Refresh Categories".
3. Verification
Wait approximately 10 minutes to allow the system to process the backlog. Afterward, you can confirm the fix by running a search query for a recently updated page. If the new content appears in the search results, the queue is processing correctly.
Technical Background
This issue usually occurs when the Job queue exceeds its automatic processing limit (e.g., a backlog of 800+ jobs). Using Special:RefreshWiki manually forces the system to process these pending tasks immediately.
